The last Wismec product I reviewed was the Wismec Active 80W Box Mod. And lemme say, though I was skeptical I was thoroughly impressed with it. It seems like Wismec goes out of their way to create unique designs for their vaping gear, and this next mod is not an exception. While the main body and construction isn’t so unique, the overall aesthetic is something I’ve never seen before. It’s called the Wismec Reuleaux Tinker 300W TC Box Mod and its design was inspired by the old Air Jordan 3 sneakers. The Tinker name is a nod to Tinker Hatfield, the lead designer on several generations of Jordan shoes. What? Yeah, no, you heard me right. But how does this sneaker-inspired mod vape?

A Vape Mod That Looks Like a Sneaker?

Yes, Wismec went there. I really wasn’t sure about the idea. I’ll say, if you like sportswear, then you’ll probably like the look of this mod right away. Personally, I think it’s a bit unattractive and awfully chunky. However, the size of the mod is due to the fact that it uses three 18650 batteries. So with the capability of reaching up to 300W, you’re sacrificing a bit of comfort and weight.

The Wismec Reuleaux Tinker 300W TC was initially a starter kit, but now the mod is available without the tank. It’s available in three colors: white, red, and blue, all of which include silver and the white and black pattern accent.

The Build

The Reuleaux Tinker is made primarily with zinc alloy. It feels solid, and that goes without saying because of the weight (especially when batteries are inserted). The front face of the mod has the firing button at the top, which is another little nod to sneakers, with its textured look that resembles a rubberized sole. Underneath that you’ll see the 0.96-inch TFT color display screen, two adjustment buttons, and the micro-USB port. The 510 spring connector is nicely springy and the battery door is on the bottom of the mod.

On the display screen you’ll see all you need to know: your power mode, ohms, volts, the time, and a puff counter. This mod uses the Avatar chipset, which offers multiple circuit protection, a customizable color display and upgradeable firmware. The Tinker vapes in three modes: standard power, TC for Ni, Ss, and Ti, and TCR, plus there is a preheat setting you can access in the menu.

User Functions

Wismec made the Reuleaux Tinker fairly easy to navigate. To turn it on, it’s five clicks of the firing button. To access the menu screen, click the firing button three times. You’ll then have a choice between Mode, Set(tings), Info, and Exit. Change your vaping mode in the Mode tab. The Set section will offer coil resistance lock, TC wattage setting, stealth mode, screen settings, and the preheat options. Info displays your device info such as firmware.

Also, if you want to lock your display screen, just hold down both adjustment buttons until you see the lock icon.

Vaping with the Wismec Reuleaux Tinker 300W TC Box Mod

Although I’m not a huge fan of the way that this mod looks, it does vape quite well. I tested a couple of different tanks on this guy. With my SMOK TFV8 Baby V2 tank, I was able to get some pretty massive clouds at 120W. The room looked like London on a foggy morning after ten minutes of vaping. I was really pleased with how easy to use the Tinker was, but with a mod that uses three 18650s, some other vaping modes like custom curve wattage or voltage would’ve been nice. I did notice that the battery door doesn’t give any rattle, which is a huge plus in my book.

In TC and TCR mode, this mod works very well. Good flavor, no lag on firing, and at 180W (which is about all my little lungs can take) it didn’t quit. I did try firing it at 300W, and it functioned just as it said it would, but I can’t imagine why anyone really wants to vape at 300W. The only thing that I find a bit annoying with the Wismex Reuleaux Tinker 300W box mod was the time it takes to adjust your wattage. I mean, especially if you’re trying to get it up to those tip-top wattages, it just feels awfully slow compared to, say, the VooPoo Drag 2.

Summing It All Up

If you’re looking for a box mod that can reach 300W and offers the standard vaping modes such as TC and TCR, the Wismec Reuleaux Tinker 300W Box Mod is a good choice. I could see this as an excellent cloud chasing mod if coupled with the right tank. But keep in mind it’ll be heavy to bring around with you with those three batteries. I will say that it doesn’t feel as uncomfortable as I expected, even with all of the batteries in. I have absolutely no gripes with this mod except for the speed when adjusting wattage. If you’re a vaper who loves Air Jordans and cloud chasing, plus a device that is easy to use, you’ll love the Reuleaux Tinker.
