Vaping can help smokers quit through the pure enjoyment of the experience.
Researchers at the University of East Anglia concluded vapers can become so enthralled with the experience, the love at first rip emotion can aid in attempts to quit smoking nicotine cigarettes. Plus, individuals who utilize vaping to kick the smoking habit have higher success rates.
The recent study focused on 40 smokers who quit for vaping. Base questions included their tobacco and vaping histories and past quitting ventures, positive and negative.
Some in the group mentioned how instantly attractive vaping became to them, quickly dumping tobacco for e-cigs. For others, it took a while to “ditch the fags,” as the English commonly say. The remaining few (17 percent) said they were happy with status quo.
A majority agreed the safety of vaping was an instant attraction.
“E-cigarettes are at least 95 percent less harmful than tobacco smoking, and they are now the most popular aid to quitting smoking in the UK,” said Dr. Caitlin Notley, an associate of East Anglia’s medical school who served as the study’s lead researcher. “Many people talked about how they saw vaping was a no pressure approach to quitting.”
Speaking to the London-based The Sun, Notley said most of the study’s subjects were “turned on” to e-cigs through friends and were quickly seduced by the vapor.
The more they tried it, the deeper the relationship developed.
“They went on to like it,” Notley said.
Love at first rip.
