Aqua Salts E-Liquids come to us courtesy of Marina Vapes, a company that began their mission in Los Angeles in 2014. I say mission because Marina’s primary goal is to help adult smokers stop smoking cigarettes with their premium juices. They produce freebase nicotine juices as well as salt, but today I wanted to talk about a flavor from Aqua Salts. Sour Melon by Aqua Salts E-Liquid caught my eye when I was searching for some new nic salts to try. Although I love sub-ohm vaping, I have been using my pod mods a lot lately, as well as other convenient MTL devices such as the Aspire Tigon Starter Kit, which comes with an MTL coil that works very well with nic salts. After a week of vaping with Sour Melon, I’m ready to dive down and share my thoughts.
Packaging and Branding
I’ve seen the Aqua Salts E-Liquid branding before and have always been a fan of their clean, modern packaging. It’s consistent, it’s easy to read, and it looks great. There are no gimmick-y graphics and there is absolutely zero confusion as to who produces this product. AQUA is displayed toward the top and the flavor name is below that, submerged in a colorful wave. All of the liquids in the Aqua Salts E-Liquid line resemble each other but are identifiable by color and flavor name.
These are sold in little chubby gorilla squeeze bottles with a protective cap.
The Flavor Description
Sour Melon by Aqua Salt E-Liquid is described as a blend of ripe watermelons and sour gummy. Essentially a sour watermelon candy chew.
If you’ve whiffed your nic salt liquids before vaping, you’re going to realize that these liquids are not the same as freebase in terms of smell, as well as taste. There’s a different flavor quality to nicotine salt liquids that some vapers either like or hate.
However, that doesn’t mean that Sour Melon doesn’t hit you with a sweet/sour fruit flavor once you unscrew the cap.
Vaping Sour Melon by Aqua Salts E-Liquid
I tried Sour Melon by Aqua Salts E-Liquid with two different devices: my SMOK Novo Pod System and my Aspire Tigon Kit. With the Novo 1.5-ohm pod, I could taste a slightly sour watermelon coming through first, and the gummy candy sweetness was more at the foreground until the exhale. It was a nice blend, but the flavor didn’t get going until a few puffs in. Once it did, I was really happy with the flavor. The throat hit with my 35mg juice was more than satisfactory.
Sour Melon was just as good with the Aspire Tigon Kit. The coil resistances were slightly different in the two devices(the Tigon coil I used was a 1.2-ohm MTL), but there was little to no variation in terms of performance from the e-liquid.
As you all know, clouds aren’t the primary concern when it comes to MTL vaping and nicotine salt liquids. You’ll still puff out some cute little clouds of vapor, but nothing at all compared to sub-ohm vaping.

A Mellow Sweet and Sour Watermelon Gummy: Your Next All-Day-Vape?
I have to say that the few liquids I’ve tried from Aqua have always been a win. Sour Melon by Aqua Salts E-Liquid is probably one of the top nic salts I’ve tested in a little while. The flavors are balanced well and you get a good tang to counteract the sweetness. The throat hit at the 35mg is very, very good. I couldn’t find much fault with this juice. It won’t be for everyone, but if you’re an MTL vaper who is a fan of watermelon and sour candies, I don’t see why you wouldn’t pick one of these up. As for myself, I’m probably going to keep a bottle on hand from now on.
