good or bad soupwire emblem

This e-liquid came my way thanks to an out of state friend. When I go to my local vape shops, most of the e-liquid brands are from California, or the popular ones like Naked that are hugely distributed. Hometown Hero is based out of Austin, Texas. They produce premium e-liquids, that do, indeed appear nationwide in certain shops.

Ambrosia E-Juice by Hometown Hero is described well enough in the name, but it’s really not your typical ambrosia at all. When I think of ambrosia, or in all reality, fruit salad, I remember family picnics at the park in the summer, eating a bowl of pineapple, mandarin oranges, and strawberries stirred together with whipped cream. While this e-liquid does embody a version of ambrosia, Hometown Hero took it a bit of a different direction.

Branding and Packaging

At first glance, it’s a bit difficult to make out the design on the label, other than that bright swirl of red. When you look closer, you’ll discover that swirl of red is a girl’s hair, and then you’ll probably notice the whole figure. The design, to me, is like whimsical graffiti street art. The sort of thing you may come across on the sides of buildings in big cities. After reading up on the brand, Hometown Hero employs local artists for their labels. Even though they don’t all look the same, they do embody the same sort of vibe and are easily identifiable with their blue logo across the top.

I really appreciate the branding in terms of design, and the packaging is fun, bright, and embodies what I think of when I think of Austin, Texas. Which I think is absolutely awesome. If you haven’t been to Austin, it’s one of those cities that’s just about as artsy as can be.

The Flavor

Ambrosia E-Juice by Hometown Hero is described as a berry melon citrus blend. Sounds like it could be slightly close to what I know to be ambrosia flavors. Unscrewing the cap, I could smell some hints of strawberry and honeydew, which left me excited to give this a vape.

Vaping Ambrosia E-Juice by Hometown Hero

I decided to give this e-liquid a try with my Augvape Skynet Sub-Ohm Mesh tank. I put the tank on my SMOK Species Mod. This combination works really well for me. I get clean flavor at mid-range wattages, but can still test it up to about 80W.

On the initial inhale, I was hit with a strong melon flavor, and some citrus background. It took me a few minutes to get the flavor to really pop. At around 60 it was all right, but 65W is where everything really started to come through. At the front of the blend, you’ll probably get some watermelon and cantaloupe, the honeydew is milder, but it’s there. The middle is where I started to taste some strawberry and what I think was raspberry. The finish is more of that melon citrus. The citrus was sort of hanging around in the background toward the middle and end of the vape. I don’t think there is any pineapple flavor in Ambrosia E-Juice, but instead, they used lime. Sounds different? Well, it really is!

And although this is called Ambrosia, I didn’t get much creaminess. There is a slight tinge on the finish.

Cloud Production

Don’t expect clouds that’ll make history. Ambrosia E-Juice by Hometown Hero is a 70/30 VG/PG blend. These clouds are nice and dense, but they won’t be anything to write in the record book.

Ambrosia E-Juice by Hometown Hero is a Refreshingly, Sweet Blend

It’s not too often I can find a fruit blend that really stands alone. There are so, so many fruit liquids out there nowadays that it seems like nearly everything has been done already. But I really did enjoy this little twist on ambrosia. That combination of lime mixed with the melon flavors keeps the juice from being too sweet, keeps it interesting, and the red berries are the perfect final touch.

If you want something a bit heavier on the cream, you may want to look elsewhere. But in all reality, I don’t think Hometown Hero could’ve done much better on this one. Maybe with the addition of pineapple, but I don’t think it needs it.
