Until recently, I had never heard of Perkey. To find out more about their company, it took some time to track down their website, which I eventually found under their about page on Facebook. Perkey Tech comes from Shenzhen, China, with the official name of the company being ShenZhen Abufan Technology Co., Ltd. I had come across one of their products, the Perkey Manta Pod System, and wanted to give it a try. New brands are always cropping up, and although some of them never quite catch on in popularity, some brands, such as VooPoo, spread like wildfire after successful product releases. Is Perkey going to be one of those successful brands? The Perkey Manta Pod System could be an indicator, so let’s check it out.
The Design of the Perkey Manta Pod System
The shape of the Perkey Manta is inspired by the Manta Ray and modern architecture. I see the Manta Ray more than anything else in the looks department. It’s a square design with sleek, rounded edges. I can’t tell you what material the Manta is crafted out of, but I do know there is a leather-like finish that makes the Manta pretty comfortable to hold. The materials of the Manta Pod System don’t feel cheap and I imagine it would hold up for a lengthy amount of use.
And don’t worry about color options, because the Perkey Manta offers quite a few. There are seven different colors and two different trim colors.
What the Perkey Manta Pod System Includes:

Basics: How to Use the Perkey Manta Pod System
The Perkey Manta Pod System is much like the other ultra portable systems on the market. The output voltage is 3.7V, pod capacity is 1ml, and the coil resistance is 1.6-ohms. You can vape up to 10W on the Manta system. This device is mainly intended for high nicotine juices and nicotine salts and MTL draws, therefore high wattage and heavy vapor are not a concern with this device. The pod itself has a ceramic heating element instead of other standard coil materials. There are absolutely no buttons on the Manta. It uses draw-activated firing, much like the SMOK Novo kit. Simply charge it up via the USB port, fill your pod, and vape.
Filling your Perkey Manta Pod Cartridge
Luckily, if you’re familiar with other pod mod systems, you’ll most likely know how to fill one of these pods already. Take the pod out of the Manta (should pull out pretty easily) and then pull back the silicone stopper. The fill port is then revealed. Like other pod mods, take your time when filling the cartridge, as if you try to rush it, you’ll probably end up with e-liquid flooding. When you’ve filled it up, put the stopper back and then reinsert your pod cartridge into the Manta.

Vaping with the Perkey Manta Pod System
I filled my pod with a 36mg Nectarberry from Superb’s Salt Nic collection. I always feel that pod systems like these are simply the best when using a salt nicotine liquid. Charging my Perkey Manta Pod System took about an hour to reach a full charge, as indicated by the LED light indicator, which is located on the front of the device. I let the juice sit for about ten minutes until I started vaping.
The flavor came through nice and strong and I was able to get a decent throat hit from the Manta. The more I vaped, though, I did notice the device getting a little hot. I’ve noticed worse from other devices, however, so I wasn’t bothered by it. After about an hour of using the Perkey Manta, the flavor declined a little, but it was a subtle decline. I did not notice any leaking from the pod nor did I notice any burning flavor. With further testing, nothing much changed. I tried using a non-nic salt juice with this pod system and it worked just fine, although the flavor was definitely better when using with a nicotine salt liquid.
Closing Comments: Is the Perkey Manta Pod System a Good Buy?
I would rate this pod mod system as a middle ground device. I wasn’t blown away by the performance, but I also wasn’t disappointed. It does what it’s supposed to do. The cost of this system isn’t too hefty, either, so it’s a nice option for those of you who appreciate the aesthetics of the Perkey Manta Pod System, as well as the compact size. I’d recommend this most for beginning vapers or as a spare device when you want something extremely portable. Compared to the other pod mods, the Manta doesn’t fall too short.
