Spring is (finally!) in the air, and it’s time for warm weather vacations!

But, going through TSA even when you don’t have important gear with you can be a nightmare. When you’re carrying your vaping supplies, this can feel even worse.

The rules and regulations of flying on a commercial airline seem like a crazy standard to have to follow and it can be hard to keep up. But in order to keep vaping supplies legal on airlines for everyone, it’s important you make the right choices when it comes to your vaping gear.

But don’t stress! It’s not as bad as it sounds. We’ve outlined a couple of things you need to know about flying with vape supplies here.

How to Pack Your Vape

First of all, store your batteries the right way. Batteries can ignite when they’re not stored properly.

There are a lot of articles circulating the internet right now about vapes exploding, and the last thing we need to do is store our supplies improperly and cause a bigger issue where there doesn’t need to be one.

Do NOT pack them near any loose change or magnets.

Turn off all of your devices. Before even getting to the airport, it may be advisable to empty and clean your vape tank before flying.

Store all of your supplies in a container built for vaping gear. Keep it organized, clean, and neat. Don’t give TSA any reason to slow you down or look at your gear sideways.

Flying With Vape Supplies

There are a few things to keep in mind when you fly with your supplies. These are the main points for you to consider.

Batteries are usually the biggest fear when it comes to flying with vape supplies. Like we mentioned before, there is already enough fear circulating in the vaping community with the news of devices exploding on their owners when they aren’t 30,000 feet in the air.

Make sure you follow all of these rules for battery storage so you don’t create unnecessary panic and keep vaping supplies legal on planes for everyone.

Lithium-ion batteries aren’t allowed in checked baggage.

You can still carry them on the plane or in your carry-on luggage. Just make sure that the batteries are in your mod or in a carrying case meant for vapes.

Take your mod and batteries out of your pocket the same way you would with a cell phone or laptop when going through airline security.

Vape batteries may not be checked in luggage on a plane for fear that they will pressurize and explode. They must be carried with you! This is worth repeating, as this is an issue you will always run into.

Make sure that your mod and batteries are on your person and not stored in the carry-on above your head. And don’t vape on the plane!

As long as you remove any Tanks or RDAs, you should be fine. But remember, batteries can NOT be checked in. So, battery mods must be in your carry on.

The liquid on airlines rule has been around since 2006, and most people know about this one by now. But it’s worth going over again.

The 3-1-1 Liquid Carry-On rule means that you can’t carry a liquid container that holds more than 3.4 ounces of liquids on a plane.

This just means that you cant take a big bottle with you. Take the 10 or 30ml bottles of your E-Juice and you’ll be fine.

Most airlines allow 100ml of clear liquids total. This includes other liquids you may be bringing along with you.

Keep in mind what toiletries you have packed as well, like shampoo and conditioner. This counts towards your total!

Make sure your bottles are closed tight and placed in a clear gallon bag. Glass cracks easily, so try to avoid these.

Tanks & RDAs

These are safe to put in either your check-in or carry-on as long as they are stored properly. For your own sake, make sure your gear is empty so you don’t leak.

If leakage doesn’t bother you (but who doesn’t hate wasted juice!) toss your rig into a baggie and clean up the mess later.

No Vaping on the Plane

Use of vaping device on a plane is prohibited. This extends to e-cigarettes as well.

It is so important that we follow all rules set in place for smokers, as this is the only way to allow for vaping to not be seen as a taboo in the future. Even if we know that vaping and smoking aren’t the same thing, we need to be respectful of others.

That means no stealth vaping!

Even if you think you’ll be able to sneak into the bathroom and get a puff or two in, don’t. Those smoke detectors are more powerful than the ones at home and they will absolutely detect what you’re doing. There is no reason to cause unnecessary panic!

Just wait a few hours and you’ll be back to being able to vape as freely as you’d like to be. Patience is worth it.

Smoked Out

There is already talk of banning vaping supplies from planes in general. It is so important that you aren’t careless with your supplies.

Turn off all of your devices, follow all posted airline rules, and use common sense!

And when you’re in doubt, before your flight, call the airline you’ll be flying with. It’s better to be safe than sorry!

Take Off

Flying with vape supplies doesn’t have to be a scary process. As long as you follow some common sense rules and obey all airline guidelines, you should have no issues.

There are always disposable options to purchase at your destination, but why use a mod that isn’t your first choice when you can just bring it along with you?
