In short order, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration launched its next assault on the vaping industry.

In an effort to dull the rising retail momentum of vaping companies, the FDA released new regulations aimed at detouring increased use by minors.  The agency recently directed “small-scale tobacco manufacturers” to release the ingredients of their products for federal review, according to ktnv.com.

The new FDA vaping regulations are a response to rising use among teenagers started with FDA Commissioner Dr. Scott Gottlieb’s office. Gottlieb called current teen use an “epidemic.”

Vaping companies, led by JUUL Labs, combined to compile $2 billion in sales last year.
Mob Liquid Labs CEO Alex Mazzola confirmed to the local news outlet that the company’s vape solutions have come under scrutiny. He expects additional roadblocks between the company’s products and retail stores to develop in the near future.

“They are starting to do checks,” said Mazzola, who also serves as president of the Nevada Vaping Association. “I’ve actually had an FDA agent walk in here before. They said everything was good. ”

Mazzola said Mob Liquid has no secrets involving the company’s ingredients list: “Propylene glycol, vegetable glycerin, artificial or natural flavorings, and nicotine.”

Mob Liquid Co-owner and Chief Mixologist Brandi Mazzola said its offerings pose little to no risk to potential customers.

“I know absolutely what is going into the products,” Mazzola said. “I personally make all of them and we know that there’s nothing that’s going to make somebody sick.

“I am very confident.”

More legislation in Nevada is coming. Already, state lawmakers are working on SB225, which would help combat the sale of vaping devices to minors.

You can bet Gottlieb will be heard from again.
